Studying Exudyn in the Alps: Narges’s secondment in Innsbruck

POSTED: 4 March 2022

From February first until March, I did my secondment at the University of Innsbruck. In the first days, I visited the university and all the facilities such as the mechatronic lab. On the other hand, I started to become familiar and know how to work with Exudyn, which was an elaborated software with many interesting features. Using its versatility in reeving systems, we could simulate an elevator in EXUDYN and compared the results with the previously developed Arbitrary Eulerian-Lagrangian MATLAB code.

During my secondment, I always had useful insights about how to develop my model in Exudyn. Another interesting part of this secondment was about the meetings that we had on our projects. In these meetings, I became familiar with some basics for advanced programming used to develop the Exudyn. Moreover, these meetings helped me to be more familiar with the ESR8 project and also increase my knowledge of my own project. I also participated in the PhD seminar of Johannes Gerstmayr's group and presented my work to local PhD students. In the weekends, we had the chance to enjoy the snowy mountains of Innsbruck with the local ESR.

In the end, I am so glad that I had this chance to learn how to work with Exudyn and getting some useful comments from Johannes Gerstmayr on my project. Not to mention that the city was also beautiful.
